14th December 2013 – weeping tree
Golden tresses wave in the pale sunlight. Fire colours flicker – red, yellow, orange. Leaves slowly burning, their tiny flames fanned by the bitter winter wind.
9th June 2013 – seedlings
Fresh and green, they struggle up through the soil. First one tiny leaf and then another. Slowly, they dot the brown earth with signs of new life.

6th June 2013 – slow worms
Two males fight. One has the other by the tail. Living up to their name, they slowly wriggle and writhe. Through all this, the female lies, patiently waiting. A silvery-grey triangle, barely visible on the tarmac path.

5th June 2013 – pyramid
He reaches out to their purchases, slowly gliding towards the cashier. He puts the pot on the bottom, then the plastic bags of vegetables on top. He leans the crisp packets against this on three sides. A pyramid of comestibles.

30th May 2013 – automaton
Carefully cut pieces, glue and instructions. All three come together slowly, the shape and movement forming like magic. Following a stranger’s design does not diminish the joy of creation.
