28th November 2013 – crumble

Dark, bubbling red juices seep around the edges. The baked brown topping loosens as the spoon slides in. Its sweet crumbliness joins the sharp berries in a warming taste explosion on a cold winter’s night.

High on the crest of a hill, the dusky sun catches it, turning the trees into burning fire-brands. Colours flash as the breeze catches them. Red, yellow, brown, gold; each one flickering in its own spotlight.
