16th October 2013 – toy car

It slides into a shaft of sunlight and stops dead. Its plastic bodywork glows bright orange in the light, headlights glinting. A child’s hand appears and its moment in the sun is over.

24th April 2013 – hospital

In the entrance sits a woman in a wheelchair. She looks thin and grey, holding a small cup of water in her hand. Our eyes meet and we smile. A moment of human contact, comforting for us both, I hope.
