Friends happily wield paintbrushes in return for drinks and cake. They transform our half-done spaces into wonderlands of colour and changed light.

27th June 2013 – butterfly cakes
Home-made, I place them lovingly into a box; a gift for supportive friends. As I pack them in with paper towels, I think of the pleasure they will bring and I am happy.

Golden brown, glistening and fizzing with heat. The miraculous transformation of flour, fat, eggs and sugar. A sweet treat for friends and family, ready to be consumed.

15th May 2013 – dish
I place the brown, ceramic dish of food I have cooked in the centre of the table. It sits, steaming and glistening. It contains all my hopes of a delicious meal which we will enjoy with our friends.
