21st November 2013 – woodland
High on the crest of a hill, the dusky sun catches it, turning the trees into burning fire-brands. Colours flash as the breeze catches them. Red, yellow, brown, gold; each one flickering in its own spotlight.

28th October 2013 – hair
At first glance, it seems conventional. Cut short, a salt-and-pepper colouring. A turn of the head and suddenly a flash of brightest blue can be seen. On the right side of the fringe, it proclaims individuality and choice.

9th September 2013 – moth
It lands on the carpet with a flash of silver from its tiny wings; then takes off in a blur of movement. It heads for the ceiling lights, confused by our technology, looking for the moon and a mate.

11th July 2013 – reflections
They move over the wall like water. A furry head turns and a tail starts flicking with excitement. Gone in a flash, the moment for chasing has passed.

3rd July 2013 – baby bird
It flits fearlessly down at our feet, looking for food. Soft downy feathers with a speckled pattern just showing. Quick as a flash, it darts to the wall, grabbing and swallowing an insect almost before we notice its movement.
13th May 2013 – hail
I watch as it hits and bounces off everything it touches. It makes a deafening rattle on the conservatory roof, like gravel. In a flash, it is gone, and the sun shines.
