It flies lazily, in circles, above the kitchen compost bin. Its chestnut-brown tininess is nature’s deception. Its presence is a warning of a troublesome infestation.

15th July 2013 – cabbage whites
Two white butterflies float delicately over wildflowers. They flutter around each other in tiny circles and ellipses. The pure beauty of their wings contrasts the subtle colours all around them, making them shine brighter in the summer sunshine.

4th June 2013 – chocolate
In the bowl with the butter, it melts slowly. Squares become circles, then simply lumps, like bubbles, on the surface. Dark brown and shiny, it swirls around the spoon like liquid gold.
