Yellow and brown, it looks soft as silk. Carefully harnessed by a lead, it scurries busily along the shopping street, following scents and looking for food. Its owner follows, burly belly just showing beneath a bulging t-shirt.

Small and rubbery, they resist the knife. Their brown dryness splits into greying slithers. They look unappetising, yet they will turn from fungi to nectar in the casserole dish.
