Dying off to allow for new growth, it turns a bright blood red. Half a year indoors has kept it living, but a price must be paid. Soon it will shrivel and fall, a false autumn engineered by human hands.

7th March 2013 – lemons

Glowing yellow, shiny with wax. I cut into one, revealing its juicy segments. Each one holds a hundred sharp little droplets, fitting together like scales. They bleed onto my fingers and I breathe in their acidic sweetness.
