The left lens droops, hanging on grimly, with only a clumsy blob of sticky tape to keep gravity at bay. Absent-mindedly, she fiddles with the tape, pushing the lens into a straighter position. She stares into space, perhaps dreaming of the spectacle of spectacles on the optician’s walls.
