11th January 2013 – eyes

One is a muted blue, a starburst of hazel brown surrounding the jet black iris, little flecks of a darker brown inside it. They look like planets seen from far away. The other is a chestnut brown with light brown highlights seeming to bring it to life. The ghostly white forms of the damaged retina within are like precious flaws in a diamond to me. My lover’s eyes are full of love, my own reflected there for all to see.
