A mother pushes a buggy along the crowded high street, busily talking to her friend. Bringing up the rear of this little group comes a flustered little girl, her brown padded raincoat flapping behind her. Her school bag hangs from one shoulder, pulling the edge of her open coat back to reveal the pink lining. Her big brown eyes look worried and her breath comes out in the little gasps of a small child in distress. As she runs, she shouts words she must have heard a hundred times before:
“Mummy! Walk so you can keep an eye on me!”
Adults all around her chuckle as they get on with their day.
This is lovely and made me smile. Again, marvelous description. Good job.
Thanks again, Mariella. Please tell your friends!
